Alasdair has collaborated with David Toop on the Sonic Vista project, created by NuMusic in Stavanger, Norway. The piece, called Ocean Volumes II, features singing by Alasdair and music by David.
Two benches at lighthouses are fitted with MP3 players, which will play a piece of music when visitors plug in their headphones. One of these benches, at the Eigeroy lighthouse, Eigersun Municipality, Rogaland, Norway, is the site for Ocean Volumes II. Geir Jensen (Biosphere) has created a piece for another lighthouse. The Sonic Vista project is based on the idea of memorial benches, with one bench dedicated to a memorial for Karlheinz Stockhausen. The benches should be operational by April 12th and the project will run for a year.
